Crafting Daisy Graze Tableware: Our Commitment to Safety and Sustainability
When we set out to create Daisy Graze tableware, we dedicated extensive research to selecting the perfect materials for our plant-based plates. Our goal was to develop dishes that are not only sustainable and reusable but also functional and visually appealing on any table. Equally important was deciding what we wanted to exclude from our products. We were determined not to contribute to the abundance of melamine or any items containing Bisphenol A (BPA).
Prioritising Safety: BPA-Free
BPA is a chemical commonly used to harden plastics, found in many everyday items, but it has no place in Daisy Graze products. Our mission is to offer tableware that is both eco-friendly and non-toxic. The safety concerns surrounding BPA are significant; while the FDA states that BPA is safe at current exposure levels, studies on animals suggest potential risks to brain development, behavior, and prostate health in infants, fetuses, and young children. For us, omitting BPA was an obvious choice.
Not Your Average Melamine Plate
When it comes to melamine, we have strong reservations for two main reasons. First, melamine is an industrial chemical, and while many plastic tableware items contain it—often marketed with fun designs for kids—the implications can be concerning. The FDA has approved its use, but there's a catch: when heated in a microwave, melamine can leach into food, particularly with acidic dishes. This presents a real dilemma: not only can it contaminate your food, but it’s also not microwave-safe.
At Daisy Graze, we’re dedicated to creating products that align with modern family life, including the frequent use of microwaves. We’ve made it our mission to offer tableware that is both sustainable and free from harmful substances, ensuring a safe and enjoyable dining experience for everyone.
